A big part of the beauty of Torquay and the English Riviera is its beautiful coastline offering unique views. There are over 20 beaches stretching along a 22-mile coastline with hidden coves along the way. Whatever ‘visiting the beach’ means to you, you are sure to find a place to relax and explore – be it a lively location with watersports and bars, or a quiet cove where you can sit quietly and watch the waves go by. The award-winning Meadfoot beach offers something for everyone and is just a stone’s throw away from the Osborne Apartments resort.
Dining & Eating
Torquay and the surrounding areas boast some of the finest eateries in South Devon, and with the pleasant climate that the English Riviera has to offer many local cafes and restaurants are set up for dining al fresco right throughout the year. Whether you are looking for a gastronomic foodie experience; locally caught fish and seafood; a traditional cream tea or something a little spicier, you will certainly be spoilt for choice when you holiday here. Throughout the summer months, many of the local beach cafes also have special bistro nights with live music creating a Mediterranean feel as the sun goes down.
Coastal Walking
The Osborne Apartments sits nearly on the South West Coast Path from where you can access over 22 miles of stunning coastal walks and country paths which lie within an area of natural beauty and the Unesco Global Geopark. You will find yourself strolling through picturesque farmland and tree-scenic woods with the sea on either side of you. Walks vary from challenging to gentle and there are several routes that are suitable for children or those that are a little less used to walking too far.
Leisure Activities
There is so much to do on land or sea when you are staying in Torquay! Maybe you like a round of golf while you are on holiday? We can link you up with one of the local golf clubs while you are here. Or perhaps you prefer to be on the water? With a host of different water-based activities from the local beaches, there is something for every age group and every level, from gentle paddleboarding to kayaking, sailing, speedboat trips, and scuba diving. You may also like to take one of the many fishing trips available or head off by yourself to get your very own catch of the day!
Explore the Countryside
The English Riviera isn’t just about being beside the seaside and you won’t have to go far to immerse yourself in some stunning Devon countryside with ‘chocolate box’ villages and thatched cottages dotted along the way. There are ssome beautiful nature reserves around the local area and Dartmoor National Park with its stunning scenery, winding waters and rocky terrain is just a short drive away. For those who like to mix history with nature, there are several National Trust properties in the area with breathtaking grounds and gardens.
